Leaving on a jet plane

So maybe I'm not the one leaving. Nor is Kate going on a jet plane. But alas (yes alas), Kate is leaving me. But I do know when she'll be back again! In time for Fall semester. (If you're not catching any of this...that is SAD. And go listen to this song right now. John Denver is great.)

For her last night here I had to work late, which was no fun. But I wanted to be sure to get to hang out with her. So we had a girly, facials night. Vance joined us. It was awesome.

KATE. IS. GREAT.
Check out her blog here.

A tribute to the fourth

My Fourth of July was a fun one and a little different than I originally expected. I started the day at the Provo City Parade/Freedom Festival with some friends. That was really fun. I haven't been to an actual parade in a long time. Then we hit up the swimming pool, which is always a favorite of mine.

But my favorite thing I did all day was help my brother and volunteer at Stadium of Fire. He volunteers for a rape crisis clinic/call center (I look up to him so much). And they were doing a fundraiser by selling drinks at Stadium of Fire. At first I was not looking forward to it. I was HOT and wearing a shirt 4 sizes too big. Yay. Just how every college student wants to spend their fourth, right? No. Was tired of walking up and down those stairs in the heat? Yes, but it was a great experience. My brother Brett and I were partners "hawking" drinks. So we got to talk and hang out for 5 hours, which provided some awesome bonding time. He and his roommate Justin had such great attitudes about it all, so it was hard to stay annoyed, and we ended up having a great time.

I am grateful that I had the opportunity to do some service on such an important day in our country's history. So many people in this world have suffered, served, and given up things for me to be able to live here today. I am grateful for the freedoms that so many have fought for, so that I can live my life how I want to. I am grateful to be an American.

Dear roommates,

I LOVE Y'ALL. Seriously, y'all are really awesome. Here are some reasons that I love y'all:

I love how much we're obsessed with OREOS. Check it out... this was taken right after we had already used one package of oreos for oreo truffles...yeaaaah we probs have a problem.

We have the funniest quotes and inside jokes together. "I can squink with both eyes too!" "Hot tamales I'm sweaty!"

We made delicious dinner and stuffed our faces with it. But seriously, it was so great. (Even though y'all put 2 sticks of butter on the garlic bread... ha!)
We got hair wraps together. And you know what they say...roomies that relive the 90s together, stay together. They're so dang cool.

Our late night talks are the bomb dot com. Mostly because that's the only time everyone is home. But I love hearing funny stories from each of y'all. We always have some pretty dang great stories. Like Crysta's bus stories, Brittany's park stories, etc.

Three words: CAR. DANCE. PARTIES. (You know, the two times we've driven in a car together ha!) But still...Brittany's car had never seen so many great dance moves.

Three more words: Truth or dare. Hahhahaha like when Jess had to hit on the grocery store worker, fail.

Oh and we take really really hot pictures together.

We've gone country

One thing that's really fun about Utah is that every city has their own "city days" carnival, rodeo, parade or whatever. So if you're in need of something to do you can just hit up one of those parties. There is practically one every weekend. It's pretty awesome.

Saturday, a group of friends and such went to the Riverton Day's Rodeo! It was so fun.
